The natural active substances of the capsules are LUTEIN and ZEAXANTHIN, found in high concentration in the eye, especially in the retina and the macula lutea (the site of sharp vision). Their significant age-related decrease can be connected with the deterioration of the sight, the development of AMD and cataract. These substances - due to their antioxidant activity - delay the aging of the eye and contribute to maintain its health.

The age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of the impairment of vision among people over forty. Why is important LUTEIN and ZEAXANTHIN in the maintenance for healthy eyes?

These two carotenoids are present in high concentration in the healthy eyes, especially in the retina and the macula lutea. The so called "macular pigment" forms a protective layer and absorbs the harmful UV radiation, decreasing thus the amount that reaches the more vulnerable structure of the eye. Our body cannot synthesize these substances so we have to intake them with food. The active substances of Dr. Theiss Lutexan capsules are natural compounds extracted from marigold. Currently running studies prove that these substances, LUTEIN and ZEAXANTHIN, are effective antioxidants, which slow down the aging process of the cells, and delay the development of the age-related diseases of the eye (AMD and cataract).

Recommended daily dosage: 1 or 2 capsules per day taken with water.
